The American Dream

Recently I was interviewed on a podcast and shared my perspective on our Nation. I was not born in this Country of which I am now a citizen. I like many became enamored with this Country because it is and has been an inspirational and aspirational Country. This Country as a whole has aimed toward how we can DO better; how we can BE better. To aim at reaching our highest morals of justice, equality and inclusion. To be a model for the world for human rights, and equality where every voice is heard with equal weight and with equal opportunity. Where character, integrity, creativity of the individual elevates the whole. It has been about collective inclusion while retaining our own uniqueness. It has been our moral imperative as leaders of the world to a higher moral law and order where self and other’s respect prevails, and not the authoritarian boot on your neck imposed power. (No wonder why the killing of George Floyd touches such a chord). It has not been about how many millionaires can I produce. Instead of seeing that as a byproduct it became the goal of many, frequently violating that moral imperative; of which, we were clearly reminded, by those attending Mr. Floyd’s funeral that love and justice are the means by which we must conduct ourselves so that we can DO better, so that we can BE better.

As humans, as a young Nation we know that we have fallen short over and over, and each time we have failed forward, gotten…
